Wedding Flowers at Castle Durrow - Irish Trees, ferns, mosses.

Wedding Flowers at Castle Durrow

A selection of green mosses, Tillandsia plants, Echeveria plants, miniature fern plants, and natural mossy branches with tall crème candles and large open creme, pale pink and sand coloured roses became the main table decor for the diner in the banquet hall in Castle Durrow that night.

Apart from the table decorations we’d needed to bring lots of natural elements into the banquet hall to create a more natural environment there so that the theme was not isolated to just the tables but the complete room.

I ended up renting a selection of "as tall as would fit inside" garden trees in foliage and placed these around the room in large rustic garden baskets finished off with lots of fresh and dried moss.

We also placed tall glass vases ( upto 1 meter tall vases ) around the room and filled these with not only lots of natural green Irish garden foliages but also a selection of dramatic seasonal summer flowers such as the Delphinium. We choose the softer pale pink and creme colours for these flowers so not to overpower the complete decor.

The completed room looked amazing from the initial wedding Ceremony, this was forced also into the banquet hall as the Irish weather decided to bless the couple with a blessing of fresh summer rain, all the way to the dancing after dinner.

We were on hand together with the amazing team at CastleDurrow to transform the room after the ceremony and get ready for the wedding dinner. During the ceremony we had some time to enjoy a wonderful lunch at the castle but most important to have a walk trough the outstanding gardens, And not to forget a visit to the chickens and the ducks under the apple orchard.

What made our job as a florist easier as the amazing looking banquet room, decorated with hand painted panels of soft green garden scenes.

We also ended up creating a giant name tree, to keep into the theme of the day, where guests could find their name and what table they were sitting on. Thankfully Michelle from Waterlily Weddings, the wedding planner for this amazing wedding, was on hand if guests could not find their name quickly enough.

Wishing Lauren & Ken all the happiness and years of wonderful memories of their wonderful Irish wedding.
